Minister of Women’s Affairs Visits Panjshir Province

On October 10, 2018, Minister of Women’s Affairs, Alhaj Dilbar Nazari along with a delegation visited Panjshir province in an official trip.

The purpose of this trip included meeting with leadership of Panjshir province, participating and supervising provincial commission, meeting bodies of elimination of violence against women, assistance to Pishghor flood affected people, visiting Directorate of Women’s Affairs and assessing challenges and problems faced by women in this province.

Alhaj Dilbar Nazari, thanking Deputy Governor and other Directors for cooperation and support for women and girls of this province, added, “Without cooperation of men in a society, women cannot achieve their dreams, hence, support and cooperation are needed from their rights and when it comes to provide opportunities.”

Minister of Women’s Affairs asked for further cooperation in implementation of women related programs in addition to assessing their problems and challenges, she expressed satisfaction from activities and performances of Directorate of Women’s Affairs, especially Director of Women’s Affairs of that province who could implement her programs in a best manner.

Deputy Governor of Panjshir Province, Mohammad Amin Sediqi, welcoming Minister of Women’s Affairs and her delegation, talked about support and cooperation in implementation of women’s related programs in that province, he stated “Women’s situation in Panjshir Province is relatively better and we are witness of fewer violence against women that have been solved by cooperation of Directorate of Women’s Affairs and its relevant institutions.

Panjshir Provincial Commission Meeting on Elimination of Violence Against Women:

Minister of Women’s Affairs, Alhaj Dilbar Nazari participated in a Provincial Commission Meeting on Elimination of Violence Against Women chaired by Deputy Governor, Mohammad Amin Sediqi in coordination with Director of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Khatira Shaikhani, and participated by directors of government administrations. The mentioned commission is held once in a month led by Provincial Directorate to address cases of violence against women and access to justice.

Alhaj Dilbar Nazari expressed her satisfaction from holding provincial commission meeting on elimination of violence against women and active participation of Directors and Representatives of different governmental administrations. She added, “Holding provincial commission meeting on elimination of violence against women for their access to justice and cases of violence against women is important.” She also said that based on charter of Ministry of Women’s Affairs, this Ministry’s duty included monitoring, advocating for women to access justice and their empowerment.

She continued, “We have laws on elimination of violence against women, Prohibition of harassment and law on Prohibition of exorbitant wedding expenses to decline violence against women, and all institutions are bend to implement them to reduce violence against women.

Director of Women’s Affairs of Panjshir Province, Khatira Shaikhani said, “During the current year, 17 cases have been registered in this Directorate, of which three cases are related to violence, one about self-immolation and 11 cases of running away from home.” She added, “This Directorate held and coordinated programs on challenges and opportunities regarding election and peace national consensus.

Directors and Representatives of different governmental administrations, welcoming Minister of Women’s Affairs and her delegation, recalled activities and achievements in different sections for women and girls of that province. They also reminded problems and challenges faced by women of that province, such as: lack of supportive centers for women, lack of Advocates for addressing cases related to women, low level of public awareness, lack of reporting by public from violent cases, lack of seminars and workshops for empowering women, lack of female specialists in health section and lack of land for construction of market for women’s handicrafts.

At the end, Alhaj Dilbar Nazari, presented necessary instructions for resolving women’s problems in the related administrations, and honored Director of Women’s Affairs with an appreciation letter for her activities and performances towards women. The provincial authorities also presented an appreciation letter to Ms. Nazari.

Assistance to Pishghor flood victims:

Alhaj Dilbar Nazari, later that day met with victims of Pishghor floods and assisted 200 tons of goods (Veils, Sandles and Handkerchiefs). She said that “We, as representatives of all women in the country express our sympathy regarding catastrophic accident occurred in Pishghor.”

She then visited parts of Directorate of Women’s Affairs and Training Center constructed by UNHCR for women and girls of that province and at the end, she visited tomb of National Hero of the country “Ahmad Shah Masoud” and prayed for all martyrs of the country.


Nabila Muslih, Administrative and Finance Deputy Minister Travels to Balkh

On September 30, 2018, Ms. Nabila Musleh, Deputy Minister of Women's Affairs for Finance and Administrative Affairs traveled to Balkh province along with a delegation.

 The purpose of this visit was to organize and coordinate the educational campaign training for female candidates in the northern zone and monitor the functions and support services of Balkh Women's Affairs Directorate.

 During the visit, the deputy minister met Mohammad Ishaq Rahgozar, governor of Balkh province. Appreciating Mr. Rahgozar's cooperation, Ms. Nabila Musleh emphasized on the role and presence of women in important government agencies and broader participation of women in the departments.

M. Eshaq Rahgozar, governor of Balkh province, believes that women make up important half of the society. He promised to seek different approaches in facilitating women’s presence in leadership positions of Balk local agencies.

During the visit, a training workshop was also conducted on election campaigns for better implementation of campaigns for 30 female candidates for the house of representatives/parliament.

It is worth mentioning that Ms. Nabila Musleh also met employees of Balkh Women’s Affairs Directorate, listened to their problems, challenges and suggestions and emphasized on finding solutions for them.


Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs for Finance and Administrative Affairs Travels to Herat Province

On October 2, 2018, Mrs. Nabila Musleh, Deputy Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) for Finance and Administrative Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan along with a delegation visited Herat province in an official trip.

Mrs. Musleh met Mohammad Asif Rahimi, governor of Herat province in his office and emphasized on women’s presence in government offices and he promised to recruit more women in leadership positions in that province.
